Flat Response
Our loudspeakers are capable of reproducing the sounds that existed in the recording studio to within 1 decibel  across the entire specified range.  Each instrument is hand tested after production.
Ultra low harmonic distortion
While many studio monitors claim to supply a flat response curve the truth is that they are measuring the sum of the both the fundamental sound and all the unwanted sub-harmonics that are created by the drivers in the speaker and did not exist in the original recording.  When auditioning a new set of speakers if the words  ”vivid”, “clear”, or “lush” ever come to mind then it’s most likely that you are hearing the speakers harmonics and not just the source material. Harmonic distortion is the leading cause of listening fatigue , it may sound exciting on the showroom floor, but it will wear you down quickly. A speaker with a true response should actually sound, well, boring really, because it doesn’t add or subtract from the music, it should  just recreate it’s signal and get out of the way.
We achieve this in two ways. First the drivers are selected primarily for strong fundamentals, not nessesarily flat response which can be easily tailored later in the crossover, we don’t have a big RD department, rather we rely on the most respected third party hobbyists who sacrifice their time in the name of unbiased science*  Second we recess the tweeter with a mild wave guide, this boosts the fundamental so that we can lower the energy put into the tweeter resulting in much less excitement of it’s driver memberane making it sound really clear, as if the wool has been pulled from your eyes.
Liner Phase
The last main consideration, after response and harmonics, is phase. This means that when a drumstick hits a drum in a recording the wavefront of the bass and the treble should hit you at the same time. We phase align the drivers with their positioning and digital delays of 0.06ms, this minimizes combing and keeps the sweet-spot in front of the speakers. We use a 24db/octave Linkwitz-Riley crossover to maintain phase in the signal path. An finally we have optimized the position of the diver on a well rounded baffle to ensure that reflections from the baffle evenly dispersed and not concentrated at any specific frequency.
Active Crossover
The use of an active crossover greatly simplifies design of the system and allows larger flexibility in driver choice and crossover point so that no compromises have to made in those critical elements. There is also the huge benefit of having the driver directly coupled to the amplifiers, in fact the bass driver is so strongly coupled that when the system is on the front cone is almost immovable where as when off it gives way to a light touch.
Artisan craftsmanship, made in America
We are a younger company and are dedicated to building high quality products forever. We do not intend on becoming a publicly owned company where the pressures of shareholders erode the core values of doing business well in favor of turning a quick buck.
